Travel has always intrigued me. As a little girl, I can remember family trips to the beach with my Dad. Although these vacations were infrequent, the joy I saw in my Dad and my siblings was something that stuck with me forever. Escaping from all the stresses of everyday life brought a sense of peace and geniality. When my husband and I married and had children, it was a necessity for me to have that time as a family. Whether it was staying in a tent camping at a state park or taking a road trip through the Midwest, we have always made the time to create these experiences and reconnect. We love to encounter different cultures, try new foods, and appreciate others’ traditions while creating memories.

My family is my life! I married my high school sweetheart, and we have two children: Jack (18) and Kate (15). We live in Geismar, Louisiana, close to our large extended family. We have two adorable cats who are spoiled rotten! Last September, I had the opportunity to retire from teaching after 20 years in the public school system. I taught everything from English, Science, and Math, to Special Education, Theatre, and Fine Arts! The last 3 years of teaching, I had the privilege of bouncing from different schools in the parish teaching Talented Theatre! Being a singer and performer myself, this was a dream job! Though I miss my students, it’s been nice to devote more time to my family and my personal interests! After many years of teaching private voice lessons to children in our community as a part-time job, I was able to open up a voice studio in my home last fall. It is called “Your Song Vocal Studio”, named after my father, who was an amazing singer. It has been a wonderful luxury to do this from home. Also, continuing to teach in some capacity is so nice! Apart from singing and teaching, I love to cook, craft and paint, watch movies and television, learn French, assist with Dutchtown High School’s Theatre Department productions, see Broadway shows, and plan trips!

This leads me to why I chose to pursue this venture of becoming a travel planner! Planning trips, taking those trips, and sharing my experiences with others has brought me so much happiness. I am eager to help others find what they’re looking for. My strengths are finding the best deals, personalizing trips based on interests, and itinerary mapping. Depending on what your needs are, I can do as much or as little work as you’d like! With my background as a special education teacher and being a mother of a child with special needs, I understand the importance of having certain plans in place to accommodate different abilities. Moreover, I will go above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction.

Happy Travels,

Melissa
